Here’s something I see all the time:
Business owners with massive goals, big ambitions, bold visions for what they want…
…but no real plan for how to actually get there.
So the dream stays a dream.
It gets talked about in passing, written down in notebooks, maybe even slapped on a mood board.
But nothing moves.
Why?
Because the gap between where you are now and where you want to be feels too big.
Let’s say your dream is to scale the business, take more time off, and eventually exit with a 7-figure valuation.
That’s exciting – but also overwhelming.
Because between here and there, there are thousands of moving parts.
And if you don’t break that vision down into something real, you’ll just end up stuck in busy work that feels “productive” — but doesn’t actually move you forward.
So, how do you turn a big goal into something achievable?
🔹 Zoom out – Start with the destination. Where are you trying to get to in 3–5 years? What does that look like in practical, tangible terms?
🔹 Work backwards – What would need to happen in the next 12 months to make that long-term goal feel within reach?
🔹 Then break that down again – What needs to happen this quarter? Then take your priority goals each quarter and break them down into weekly actions and ownership and review progress weekly.
🔹 And then ask the golden question – What’s one small thing I could do today that would move me even closer?
Here’s the thing:
You don’t need to sprint. You just need to step.
One clear step after another.
Taken consistently.
Reviewed regularly.
Refined as you go.
Big dreams don’t need big heroic actions.
They just need committed, focused ones — taken over time.
A client of mine wanted to open three new branches of his business in five years.
We mapped out the first year in milestones and the first quarter in detail.
Twelve months later, branch number one was live, profitable – and he felt like the five-year goal was no longer a fantasy.
Because it was no longer a dream – it was a plan.
So, what’s the big thing you’re aiming for?
And what’s one practical step you can take this week to move towards it?
It doesn’t have to be flashy.
It just has to happen.
