Daniel Rickman, Structura

£10m increase in turnover & £2.5m increase in profit this year alone – it’s no coincidence!

When the three founding directors found themselves treading water and wanted to step back, encouraging the next generation to take over, they engaged Sanjiv to help the business through this transition.

The owners and senior managers were all operating as technicians, buried doing jobs IN the business. This included soon-to-be MD Daniel Rickman.

They were working on autopilot, and though they had been successful for 30 years, they had hit troubled waters, not seeing the ‘wood for the trees’ – the blockers.

Embracing the challenge and accountability of the coaching process has helped facilitate the change. They’ve gone from dealing with whatever comes in day-by-day without a clear plan, to having a clear strategy, structure, roadmap and plan to propel the business forward.

“We’re planned, we’ve got direction. We know what the next 1, 3, 5 years look like and beyond that we have conversations as well.”

“It really changes your life. With the clear strategy and structure we now have in place, we’ve been able to take the business to the next level.”

The transition to the next generation of leaders and managers has taken place. Toxic individuals have been removed, and clear lines of communication have been established to hugely improve the culture and level of engagement.

Daniel has experienced a shift from being a technician in the business, working day and night to help deliver projects, to being a leader now thinking through a spectrum of challenges and initiatives, making a lot more time for others.

And the benefits have extended beyond this, bringing positive impacts to his personal and family life.

“In the past, things may have been a nice-to-have or a distant vision, but now we bring those forward and really take them on.”

“This year we will have delivered £10m increase in turnover. £2.5m increase in net profit. It’s no coincidence – we’ve put those strategies in place.”
